Hi my name is Kris and I grew up in a small mountain town called Conifer, Colorado. I used to go hiking and camping a lot with family and friends going up. We would go to summer camps and even camp out in our backyard and when I say backyard I mean the side of a mountain. I really enjoyed spending so much time outside and now I realize that I took it for granted at the time.
I went to college at the University of Colorado in Builder, and had great hiking and running trails at my disposal. It was great having the foothills right there next to campus so I could go hiking anytime I wanted. I also had a chance to run up the canyon in the mornings. What a great way to start the day. I did not do camping as much as I did growing up and I began to miss it a little.
After college I moved to Mesa, Arizona to work for Boeing. I soon found out that I really did not like desert hiking or camping. I did hike Arizona’s tallest mountain Humphreys Peak at about 12,600 feet it was nothing to the 14ers that I was used to. As the years past I stopped hiking and camping as much as I used to. I just got caught up in other things.
After living in Arizona for about 5 years, I moved to Colorado Springs to work for Agilent Technologies. It was great to be living next to real mountains again and I now have a great view of Pike’s Peak! I have been living here for a little more then a year and I am trying to get back to the simple activities that I used to love, hiking and camping. I have been doing more and more hiking as I have been here and I am looking forward to do some camping trips this summer.
